Predator and Prey |
Parasitical Interaction |
A predator and prey interaction is when a cougar attacks a South Andean Deer. This is a predation interaction because the cougar, the predator, eats the South Andean Deer, the prey. The cougar usually snaps the neck and spinal cord of the deer and then drags it away from the kill site to eat it.

A parasitical interaction is when a whipworm, the parasite, attacks its host, an alpaca. This is a parasitical interaction because the whipworm is benefiting by getting food, while the alpaca host is being harmed as the whipworm lives in its intestines. The alpaca sometimes experiences diarrhea, weight loss, and if the parasite continue to live in the intestines without preventative measures, it could lead to death.
